Morgan Strohacker, North Carolina

I have always had love for the outdoors and fishing, but never knew anything about the sport of archery or hunting until I met Johnny Perhealth. When I first met him I knew hunting and archery was his life so I wanted to give it a try. He bought me my first bow in March of 07 and entered me in the Augusta ASA the following month. I didn’t know the difference in 5 yards and 50 yards and I lost 7 arrows to the woods. The main thing was I had fun and didn’t give up. I was hooked then!

I have now been competing for 6 years and I have learned it doesn’t happen overnight. It took me a few years to get on the podium and that is the best feeling in the world!  When hunting season came that year, he showed me how to use a climbing stand and that was it. He dropped me off in the woods and came back at dark to pick me up. I saw 7 does my very first time hunting and that was all it took!

Now every year is planned out and I wouldn’t want it any other way! Archery competitions from February to August and Hunting from September to January. I plan for it to continue that way as long as the good Lord will allow me to enjoy it!
